Seahawks Game

At the Seahawks Game

Can you believe that 2016 is only about two months away?  This year has been so fulfilling and went by so great, it is hard to believe it is November already! I feel so much connected with my readers than I have every been and I have to say these monthly healthy living updates kept me going.  As you know the monthly updates started as monthly weight update statuses but I love that it is changing focus a bit.  As mentioned in the last update, I want to make it more of a monthly healthy living and lifestyle update.  But why is it that I do this and why you should do the same too.

Why monthly updates on healthy living?

  1. Taking a look at how we are doing monthly gives us a monthly check point and time to take a break and evaluate our progress. I helps to stop and think about what went well and what didn’t go so well so we can learn and adjust.
  2. I mentioned many times that this process gives me a huge accountability partnership.  I love that when I report what is going on monthly, I know that my readers will keep me accountable but also they too will take the time to evaluate how well they are doing.
  3. Our health and happiness is important in whatever we do.  It really starts within.  If you want to be successful at your job, get a thriving business, have a deep connection with your relationships, raise confident kids, and on and on.. well you better be healthy and happy.  So, don’t go skimpy on taking the time at least once a month (the more the merrier) to understand what you are doing, how you are showing up every day so you can make adjustments to what matters.

Slow Down to Speed Up

I am extremely grateful for my health but I have to say all the traveling (two conferences and have a quick family trip coming up for Halloween) and out of routine has taken a toll on my well being this month.  I still weigh the same, ~138, don’t know how, cause my eating habits were completely out of whack this month.  I contribute my success to maintaining my weight during the month of travels was implementing recovery time and buffer after each travel and really taking October down a notch and recoup so I can sprint.  If you need a good read on why we need to manage your energy and not time; I recommend : The Power of Full Engagement: Managing Energy, Not Time, is the Key to High Performance and Personal Renewal (I couldn’t help but cry at the end, first for a self-improvement book for me).  The author talks why we need to disengage so we can reengage.  Creating downtime is productive time, where we need to take the time to balance our energy expenditure with intermittent energy renewal.  Therefore after each travel I really paid attention to energy renewal.

At the Pumpkin Patch

At the Pumpkin Patch

I took a day off to join our youngest at his the pumpkin patch field trip.  I had to clear off all my morning meetings and readjust my schedule but it was totally worth it!  Burak was extremely happy and felt more assured and had a even a better time at his school field trip.  We went to the Bengals vs Seahawks game!  Darn Bengals! I worked on my son’s Halloween costume (my daughter was a huge help), made family movie Sundays 2 out of 4 Sundays of the month and read a lot during my travels. During all these activities totally disengagement was  is the key to mental and spiritual recovery for me.

What I bought this month that I love:

I bought a top, no not a bra, from Victoria’s Secret… 🙂 Here is the link, and no I don’t get a commission if you click on it:  Slouchy Sweater. I just want to let you know that I just love the softness and style of this shirt. The back has a different stitching than the front. This sweater has such a comfortable yet elegant feel to it that I highly recommend it.

What is next for November:

Joining Hal Elrod’s best month ever challenge.  Although I can’t stand Facebook lately, see the  YOUR Best Month Ever Challenge Facebook Group.  If you have been following me for awhile you probably know that I am a huge fan of Hal and follow him everywhere.  I am subscribed to his emailing list and every time there is a new episode on his podcast show he sends an email to his list but what is funny is by the time I see the email I already have listened to the show during my morning workout! I still like getting his emails nonetheless.  He has a challenge coming up, feel free, well actually, hope you can join me.  Hal is great and I know he wouldn’t disappoint.

This is also the best time of year that me and my husband enjoy and we love spending time together and love the fall and all the holidays together as a family.  You do the same ok?
